IPL is a light-based therapy for treating skin conditions associated with aging, active lifestyles, and sun damage. IPL light energy allows your clinician to perform treatments personalized for your skin and precisely treat age and sun spots, small facial veins, and many other skin defects. IPL Fototherapy is noninvasive so you can receive comfortable and effective treatments to fit your schedule, even on a lunch break.

IPL emits pulses of light energy that gently heat the upper layers of skin. The skin absorbs the light energy by targets, such as fine, broken vessels that cause redness and brown spots or pigmented lesions caused by an overproduction of melanin. This effectively destroys the target, eliminating it from the skin and restoring it to its natural beauty and glow.

Pigmented lesions (e.g., freckles, age spots), Vascular lesions (e.g., small blood vessels, rosacea, and other micro-capillary flushing conditions) acne, skin laxity, and uneven skin texture.

We can treat any area of your body. The most popular treatments are on the face, neck, back of the hands, chest, and shoulders.

During your consultation, we will determine the appropriate number of treatments to restore your skin. This typically varies from 1 to 3 treatments.

A numbing cream will be applied to your skin before your procedure. During the treatment, we will protect your eyes with safety shields. You may briefly feel a warm or “rubber band snap” sensation as the targeted areas absorb the light. Your procedure may take 15 to 45 minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated and the procedure performed. Your clinician will discuss all of your options with you.

You may experience some redness that should resolve within a few hours. Pigmented lesions will darken, flake off, and fade over the next 7-10 days. Often your treated skin will feel smoother, fine lines and pores begin to be less noticeable, and sunspots or uneven pigmentation will fade. Results depend on your skin’s condition, the number of treatments, and the area treated. Your clinician will provide you with complete information about post-treatment care and results.

IPL treatments are designed to incur little to no downtime. Your face may appear red or flushed, something which usually fades within a few hours. Individuals with prominent pigmentation may notice that brown areas become temporarily darker, peeling off in 10-14 days.

It is important to follow your clinician’s instructions. We will recommend skin care products and instructions on how to use them. If you must go outdoors, we recommend that you cover your treated skin and use sunscreen with SPF 30+ to protect your skin.
